The new Local Development Plan (LDP) continues to dominate the business of the Community Council. So far our attention has been mainly on Stonehaven South and bids around Catterline, but we are now starting to focus on Kinneff and a representative of Alexander Adamson Ltd will be present at the next meeting to discuss bid K116 (adjacent to Fawsyde).

The LDP has not completely taken over, however, and other serious issues such as potholes and the exercising of dogs in Catterline Playing Fields are still being discussed. The Annual Project Grant was also discussed at the last meeting, with the following awards being made;

The Community Council has a small amount of money available to local community groups to help fund projects. To apply for funding, please either contact one of your community councillors or apply by email or in writing to the secretary;

The grants will be allocated at the meeting on 24th February, so applications will need to have been received before then.

Workgroup to Consider Local Development Plan

The Community Council meeting held on 27th January was very well attended, with many residents from Catterline coming along to find out more about the recents bids for inclusion in the Local Development Plan (LDP). The meeting heard that developers and landowners have submitted proposal for areas to be developed as part of the next LDP, and the Community Council's have now been asked to contribute any areas that they would like to be included, as well as those they wish to see protected. These suggestions, along with the developers' proposals, will be included in the Main Issues Report to be published in May, at which point there will be public consultation on the merits of all proposals.

It was agreed to set up a working group to discuss the LDP further. The first meeting of this group will be in the Creel Inn on Monday 2nd Feb at 8.00pm. All welcome.

Community Council to discuss Local Development Plans

The next meeting of CKDCC (27th Jan 2009 at 7.30 in Catterline School) will discuss the proposals recently made by developers and landowners for possible inclusion in the next Local Development Plan, as well as other areas that the community might wish to see included in the plan.

Aberdeenshire Council have asked Community Councils for help in identifying other areas, over and above those already identified by developers, that the community might wish to be evaluated as part of the site search process.

There is a full list of the proposals already submitted on the Aberdeenshire Council's web site, although this list seems to still be subject to change as late submissions are added. For convenience, direct links to maps of the areas already submitted in the CKDCC area are shown at the bottom of this article.

General Meeting - November 2008

The meeting heard of a site visit made by an engineer from the Transportation & Infrastructure department to Denhead after the recent accident that injured one person and damaged an electricity pole.

Development Proposals for Catterline and Kinneff

Aberdeenshire Council recently invited landowners and developers to put forward proposals for development that they would wish to be considered in the Main Issues Report, with a view to taking them forward over the next 12 to 15 years through the next Local Development Plan. As well as high profile proposals such as Stonehaven South, there have been many others submitted, including proposals for Catterline, Kinneff and Mill of Uras. Community Planning Presentation

Karelia Wright, Community Planning Officer for Kincardine and Mearns, will be giving a short talk on Community Planning at our next meeting, which will be held at Catterline School on Tuesday 28th October at 7.30pm. This will be followed by the normal monthly meeting business, including a discussion of the Stonehaven South development following on from the special meeting held earlier this month.

Community Council hears details of "Stonehaven South"

A packed Community Council meeting heard from Harry McNab of Bancon about the proposed Stonehaven South development at a specially arranged meeting last Tuesday. His presentation was followed by a lively and interesting discussion, at which it became clear that there are some considerable concerns in the community about the development, and in particular its effect on the Dunnottar Woods and on certain important views, such as from the Golf Course and the Black Hill War Memorial. There was also some qualified support for the development, although many expressed scepticism that the promised community facilities and infrastructure would actually be delivered.

Public Meeting on "Stonehaven South"

Public Meeting on Stonehaven South.

Tuesday 14th October at 7.30pm in Catterline School.

All welcome.

Last Tuesday's general meeting was the first after the summer break, and was well attended. The Community Council were joined by several Aberdeenshire Councillors, and many issues that have come up over the summer months were discussed.

The application for three wind turbines at Hillhead of Auquhirie has been resubmitted, with slight modification to the location of two of the turbines, and the Environmental Impact Statement has also been published. Aberdeenshire Council will be contacting anyone who commented on the previous application to inform them of the change and invite the submission of new comments, and the Community Council will be resubmitting their comments to ensure that they are added to the new planning file.

New Community Councillor

Eeva-Kaisa Arter was coopted on to the Community Council at the June meeting to fill the vacant Kinneff seat, which leaves us just one seat to fill to be up to full numbers again.

There is still one seat (Dunnottar) currently unfilled, and we are interested in hearing from anyone interested in joining us. Dunnottar parish is the northern part of the CKDCC area, and covers from Mill of Uras up to Dunnottar Castle, and over to Auquhirie and the Carron. It includes Dunnottar Castle and the East Newtonleys area that is the site for Bancon's proposed "Stonehaven South" project.
